Driving Innovation in Wrexham with Support from the Shared Prosperity Fund

The Wrexham Shared Prosperity Fund invited applications for projects designed to deliver meaningful outcomes that benefit communities across Wrexham County Borough. The UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) for 2025–2026 actively contributes to the delivery of the UK Government’s key missions.

For 2025–2026, mission-led themes are aligned with three overarching priority areas. Within these priorities sit five themes and twelve sub-themes:

  • Communities and Place
  • Supporting Local Business
  • People and Skills

This year’s funded projects support local businesses, cultural initiatives, education providers, and community organisations showcasing the diversity and ambition of Wrexham’s SPF programme. From digital innovation and manufacturing to youth services and heritage, the investment highlights a strong commitment to inclusive, place-based growth.

This final year of SPF delivery in Wrexham is focused on maximising impact, strengthening partnerships, and preparing the ground for future investment opportunities.

Derwen Joinery submitted an application for our project CNC Innovation, Up-Skill and Growth.

The investment in a CNC machine will project Derwen Joinery into advanced manufacturing excellence where Derwen will thrive. The introduction of World-class leading-edge equipment will enable Derwen to produce components with greater precision, efficiency, and consistency. This step change to CNC manufacturing is a key part of our plans to expand production capacity, take on new projects, and offer even more competitive services to our clients.

This project isn’t just about new equipment , it’s about growth.

  • We’ll be creating new skilled roles in the workshop.

  • We’ll reduce lead times and increase productivity.

  • We’ll continue to train apprentices and support local talent development.

  • And most importantly, we’ll help ensure that high-quality manufacturing, supporting local growth stays right here in Wrexham.

CNC Innovation, Up-Skill and Growth has received £266,785.25 from the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, delivered locally through Wrexham County Borough Council.

This grant is a fantastic example of how regional funding can help small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) innovate, invest, and thrive.
