From Humble Beginnings to Bespoke Excellence
Every business begins with a vision and for Derwen Joinery, that vision was brought to life in 2016 by Philip Roberts and his wife, Jennifer. While Phil focused on site joinery, Jenny, laid the foundations for the company’s success by developing all the systems and processes that continue to support our workshop and growing team today.
In the beginning, Phil and Jenny combined hands-on woodworking with strategic planning, ensuring the business could grow sustainably. Their complementary skills; Phil’s craftsmanship and Jenny’s organisational expertise set Derwen Joinery apart from the very start.
By 2019, Derwen Joinery opened its first workshop in Gwersyllt, Wrexham marking a major milestone. This space became the creative heart of the company, under the careful guidance of both directors.
As demand for our bespoke joinery grew, so did we. In 2022, we moved to a larger facility on the Whitegate Industrial Estate in Wrexham, giving us the capacity to take on bigger projects.
In 2023, Derwen Joinery achieved the status of Approved Fire Door Manufacturer, a testament to the team’s technical skill, attention to detail, and dedication to quality and compliance.
In 2024, we expanded into the neighbouring unit, reflecting both our growth and our long-term commitment to excellence.
From humble beginnings to a thriving, family-led company, Derwen Joinery blends traditional skill with modern precision. Phil’s passion for the trade, combined with Jenny’s business-wide process improvements, ensures we consistently deliver exceptional joinery while building a sustainable future for our team and clients.
