PAS:24 is a British standard that sets out the requirements for enhanced security performance of doors and windows. What is Approved Document Q?
In England, Approved document Q – Security of Dwellings took effect in October 2015, supporting the existing Schedule 1 to building regulations.
These regulations require that all new-build properties are constructed to resist unauthorised access to any dwelling, as well as to any part of a building that provides access to a flat.
To achieve compliance, windows and doors must be manufactured and tested to meet the PAS 24 standard or an equivalent recognised security specification.
